How is the safety of walkers assured?

Answer

You will find a full summary of the safety measures on this website.  Follow Get Ready > On the day...

In summary:

  • There are manned checkpoints around the course, connected to control by a professional radio network.  The primary jobs of the checkpoint staff are to monitor the progress of walkers, to assess their fitness to continue and provide a convenient drop out point for those retiring.   Click here for more information.
  • There are processes in place for walkers who drop-out, preferably at a checkpoint, but also in the field.  They will be brought back to The Misbourne.   Click here to learn more.
  • Should there be an emergency, then again we have processes in place to handle this.   Click here to read more.
  • We recommend that all walkers have the what3words app loaded on their phone and know how to use it.   This allows them to tell us where they are with great precision.  Click here to find out more.
